I've been doing some research into do-it-yourself (DIY) hard disk drives, and have a few questions about controllers: a) I have read that Adaptek controllers are very good. when looking at PC drives, quite a few say "with controller", or have separate prices for controllers. None of the ads mention Adaptek. Is Adaptek the "generic" brand? b) Some ads make the distinction between AT and XT controllers. Do the ST interfaces (e.g. BMS or Supra) plug into a PC controller? (This is important, because all I have seen to date is PC controllers.) If so, AT or XT? Any comments on what to look for or avoid? c) What's a good size for a power supply? I would think about 20 watts. (15 for the drive and 5 for the controller) Too low?
