Well, I've finally given up on getting help from Atari. I guess the bottom line from them was that if I sent in my drive and $90, I'd get a replacement. However, I was at a computer fair this weekend, and found many compatible mechanisms selling for $55 to $75. I wasn't sure about the cheap ones, so I spent the $75. So for $15 less, I kept my old mechanism, saved the postage, and saved six weeks time. Isn't Atari great??? Anybody using their exchange policy has to be crazy. It's another Atari ripoff. By the way, my Chinon mechanism is now for sale. Best offer accepted. It is newly aligned and works fine on standard disks. It is running fast (about 309-310 rpm) so it is not compatible with 10 sector format. If interested, please send me an offer. Matt Stone
