[comp.sys.atari.st] coco drives on st

aking@PEBBLES.BBN.COM (Allen King) (11/13/88)

I've been trying to attach an old CoCo Teac drive (5 1/4", 40
tracks, double sided) to my 520ST, per the notes from Ric Wheeler
23Sept88. After a little work, it will select, turn on the motor, and
step. It appears to format, although I had to set the number of tracks
down from 82 to 40 on 410format.prg. The problem is that it won't
read data back. It appears to have trouble reading the directory.

Can the Teac (model FD-55B-01-U) be made to work with the ST? I
wonder now if the data rates (and perhaps sector sizes) are
compatible. Will the result, if it works, be able to read IBM
compatible diskettes?
