[net.wanted] WANTED: Emergency Communications Procedures

howellg@idec.UUCP (Gareth Howell) (09/26/85)

To all radio amateurs connected or associated with emergency
	communications.
(Apologies for posting to net.wanted but I can't post directly
to net.ham-radio)

I am a member of the Radio Amateur emergencY NETwork (RAYNET). This
is a voluntary organisation coordinated by RSGB in the UK that exists
to provide assistance to the civil authorities and emergency services
in time of natural or man made disaster. (A classic example is the
current Mexican disaster).

The group that I belong to is in the process of compiling a procedure
manual that can be used as a training aid and operations guide by the
group. The manual will contain organisation and signalling procedures
and the like. Obviously we want this manual to be as comprehensive as
possible and to contain procedures that have been tried and tested.

So what I want is this.
If you are connected in any way with similar organisations in your own
country, can you think about the procedures that you use, and communicate
any tips, hints or things to avoid. Better still if you have a similar
manual that you would be willing to let me have a copy of please reply
as to how I can get hold of one. I will willingly pay postage if
required.

Any information will be gratefully received. Please don't think that your
information is too trivial to be passed on: after all it may help to save
someone's life!!

As I don't always get net.ham-radio could you please respond via mail
rather than news.

Thank you in advance. If respondees indicate sufficient
interest I will summarise to the net.

		Gareth G6KVK North Hertfordshire RAYNET.
