This is from the December 1988 issue of ST INFORMER. ST INFORMER reports that an Optical Scanning Recognition system is under development for the 300 dpi Cannon scanner. This package allows the user to "teach" a font to the ST computer and thereby provide the ability to have the Cannon scanner read a page of text and store it. The result of scanning is saved as an ASCII file for further processing. Anyway, does anyone know anymore about this product. ST INFORMER did not mention a name, or availablity. It would seem like a real boon to the developing ST desktop publishing market. The current price to scan a page of text and to convert it into text is about $1 per page. So, if this product ever hits the street someone could make some real money with an ST!!! Richard Covert
