I was fortunate enough to attend the First Canadian Atari Users Convention in Toronto last month (November 6th) and got to go to a seminar about Spectre 128. David Small has broken up with Data Pacific (I'm sure you already know this) and started his own company, Gadgets by Small. Spectre 128 is essentially the latest revision of the Magic Sac. The biggest difference is that it uses the 128K ROMS as opposed to the older versions using the 64K ROMS. This means it will work with most of the newer software, INCLUDING Hypercard. We were told that the programs Spectre 128 has problems with are Games (only 50% run) and MIDI Programs. (no need to emulate MIDI programs when the ST has such a rich supply!--Same with games!). The user interface for Spectre 128 is MUCH better than the older Magic Sac.. What I mean, is that before you enter the MAC world, you can set all sorts of options using drop down menus. Since I go to a school that uses a LOT of Macintoshes (sigh), I plan to purchase Spectre 128 as soon as funds allow. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Albert Yarusso, Usenet: ajy2208@ultb.RIT.edu (I think...)
