I have tried calling Gadgets by Small and am told I will be called back; as yet ZIP! I am getting really frustrated not being able to run 128K requiring codes on Spectre 128. At my workplace there are more than 50 Atari computers with some groups running them as Macs under Magic Sac. Until I get at least one version of Spectre 128 to behave, no one is in a mood to order it. Please, please, someone help me figure out why 64K requiring codes will run but 128K requiring codes will NOT. My Apple ROMS have the following numbers (at least this is what I can read): 752 SA X882Q 23512-1054 342-O341-C 751 SA X841Q 23512-1055 342-0342-B I am running version 1.75 of Spectre 128. When I used Finder/System 5.4/3.2 my system bombed trying to run EXCEL 1.5 or HYPERCARD. When I used Finder/System 6.0/4.2 I got the message "The following application is busy or damaged:" then it named either EXCEL or HYPERCARD. C'mon, someone out there must know why I cannot run 128K requiring codes!!!! If anyone knows how to get a message to Dave Small (I do not have access to BIX, GENIE, CompuServe or USENET) then please let him know that there is at least one poor soul who just cannot get Spectre 128 to run 128K codes. One final note, the 64K codes that I run perform at blinding speed - disk access on my HD is incredible. Love it! Now, if only I could run EXCEL, HYPERCARD, .....

C'mon, someone out there > must know why I cannot run 128K requiring codes!!!! The user doesn't have to do anything different to run an application that requires the 128K ROMs. In fact the programs you say are working (ones that work on 64K or 128K ROMs) are USING the new 128K ROM functions to run. They are just not using some of the new extensions to the Toolbox. The message you are getting, "The following application is busy or damaged" normally indicates that the resource fork of an executable file has been damaged. Try re-copying the executables from your original Mac disk and see if that helps. Gadgets by Small was shut down over the Christmas and New Years holidays, so they were not taking any calls. I don't know if they have caught up with the back log of tech support calls from the holidays or not. When I worked at Data Pacific I took a 10 day break over Christmas. When I returned I had over 200 tech support calls waiting for me and it took 3 weeks to get caught up. I'm sure that Dave has the same problem at Gadgets by Small or maybe even worse. If you will send me a mail item with your name, phone number, and times you can be reached I will give it to Dave Small so he can call you. Maybe the copy of Excel and Hypercard you have really are damaged. I've ran Hypercard V1.2.0 with no problems... Lawrence Y. Chiu; University of California, Berkeley.
