[comp.sys.atari.st] G+Plus and DCFormat3.0 don't mix.

hyc@math.lsa.umich.edu (Howard Chu) (01/19/89)

I suppose I should contact Codehead, but the DoubleClick guys are usually
around here, so... The subject pretty much says it.

When I have G+Plus executed from my AUTO folder, I'm no longer able to use
DCFormat. I get the alert box "Use right mouse button [etc.]", click and
get the next alert, showing the version number, and then nothing. The mouse
still tracks the cursor across the screen, but no key or mouse clicks will
do anything. Anyone else seen this?

Version 3.01 (soon to be sent here) should alleviate this problem.

Apparently the same bug which bit previous versions was not caught for 3.0...

Sorry. For the curious, we open a work station with a zero handle. A definite
no-no.

Within the next few days we will send some programs up to here.

[the line eater lives!]
A minor request for the authors of DCFormat and other formatters;

DCFormat and some others DON'T produce the only COMPATIBLE format for
the ST and MS-DOS machines, which is said to be implemented in TOS 1.4.
I ONLY use Moshe Braner's IBMFMT on the ST now, for that reason!

The correct "compatible" format writes an MS-DOS boot sector but with
the Serial Number (random! Really Random!) in the right spot for TOS.
MS-DOS doesn't care, as that's just the ASCII version number of the
MS-DOS system that formatted it, or some such drivel.

DCFormat is really cute but without that detail, I can't move stuff
to MS-DOS machines, and if I use its MS-DOS boot option, it doesn't have
the serial number and the ST gets seriously confused!
