I need some information about using laser printers on the ST. I have a word processor (Microsoft WRITE) that can print to (among other printers) an EPSON FX. After I get my document finished, I will want to print it on a laser printer. I'm planning to rent an EPSON-compatible laser printer to do this. Question #1: Do "EPSON-COMPATIBLE" laser printers emulate the graphics mode of the EPSON, or just the text mode? Since my word processor sends only graphics mode commands to the printer, the laser printer would have to support EPSON graphics. Question #2: Assuming a printer can emulate EPSON graphics, how would the laser output look if it were generated in this fashion? Since the EPSON has 9 pins, and a laser has ~300 dots per inch resolution, will the pixels appear as big squares on the laser copy? Will all the lines appear very jaggy? Question #3: Is the HP LaserJet 2 compatible with the EPSON graphics mode? Question #4: Do most laser printers connect to the Atari ST's printer port? Are adapters/special cables necessary? Thanks in advance! Eric Terrell att!druhi!terrell
