WANTED: A simple to learn and simple to use 2-D drawing programme (package) running under UNIX Berkeley 4.2 on a DEC VAX 11/780: * a picture at least contains points, straight line segments connecting points, symbols or pictograms, and text strings anywhere; any item can have its own colour. * (part of) a drawing can be entered (in layers) via one or more files with prescribed formats, but also interactively with the keyboard and/or a mouse or a tablet. * a drawing can be modified by editing the file(s) describing the picture in a (normal) text edit session, but also interactively with the keyboard and/or a mouse or a tablet. * a drawing, a new one or an update, is saved automatically in one or more files; it is also possible to put it on paper with a plotter or via a hardcopy device. * symbols, pointsizes, line structures, etcetera can be (pre)defined and put into a library. * zooming, rotating, and automatic scaling of (part of) the picture are possible. Please let me know wether such a drawing programme package does exist, and how it can be obtained. Except for the UNIX VAX, the hardware devices may depend on the drawing programme. The software is not available for the VAX but does run on the low cost 32-bit Tektronix 6130 workstation which is based on Berkeley 4.2 and System V. The software uses the high-performance capabilities of the Tektronix 4100 and 4110 Families of graphic terminals.
