I would also like information and comparisons between the Atari and Supra drives. Can you boot from either of them? Are they both compatible with the new backup software that is coming out? Thanks in Advance R.T. Bradstrum

We have just bought two more 1040ST computers complete with SM124 monitors and Megafile 30 hard disks. The odd thing is that the new computers only boot a new hard drive from power up but not an old SH204. Performing a coldboot will then boot up an SH204. Both drives are using HDB to boot and are now using the latest version of AHDI that came with the Megafile30's. The 1040's have ROM version 1.02. Has anyone got any idea (esp. Atari) as to why these new ST's are being so choosy about their drives. I suspect it is a revision of the ST hardware. _____________________________________________________________________________ / DISCLAIMER: Unless otherwise stated, the above comments are entirely my own \ ! ! ! Atari has started buying DMA chips from a new supplier. The new DMA chips are not compatible with some older DMA host adpaters. So some older third party hard drives and Atari SH204s won't work with the new STs. Dan Moore AT&T Bell Labs Denver dlm@druwy.ATT.COM dlm@druhi.ATT.COM
