"I have heard rumors that leaving your monitor on when it is not connected to the Atari may cause problems. Does anyone have any information about this? I use Monitor Master and as I switch back and forth, I am not turning my monitors on and off." It is not good to leave ANY monitor running when it doesn't have a load, that is, signal feeding into it. The horizontal oscillator, so I'm told, doesn't have anything to lock onto. TV studios, if leaving a monitor on without a 'picture', will feed what they call is SIGNAL BLACK to keep the monitor stable. Instead of using Practical Solutions' Monitor Master, I'd recommend Astra's monitor switcher when trying to solve this problem. It is really a superior product, from my point of view as a user only, in that it kills power to the unused monitor. It also gives you the option to turn power off to a monitor via a switch, to tap into the audio, and to kill power to the audio for the monitor for routing to a stereo. Switching from one monitor to another is easy enough with a switch and the un-used monitor will be denied power. Larry Rymal <Z4648252@SFAUSTIN.BITNET>
