[comp.sys.atari.st] Bug-reports.

johan@freja.diku.dk (Johan Bentzen) (03/17/89)

Here are a number of bugs for your information. If you have more details
to add then write an article, there is no reason for all of us to learn
the hard way.

Filesystem.
I seem to have problems with very deep folder-structures, such as
	A:\study.uni\computer.sci\reports\minix\analysis
and I am not sure where it lies and when it appears. If you have the
same experiences and more specifics then please post them.
A related problem is trying to copy a lot of files and folders from
disk to (ram)disk. This sometimes provoke the message:
There is not enough room to run this program
even when there is room on the disk. The problem sometimes gets worse during
a session of several copyings, probably because memory is not properly
deallocated.

Fileselector.
The fileselector can not handle underscores in the path-specification
line. That is you may not type them there; it handles them OK if they
are chosen by clicking on a folder in the window. Some TOS-versions crash,
others just erase the rest of the line (and does not enter an underscore).
Pathspecifications longer than the line makes the fileselector quite
unpredictable; I usually reset to be sure.

WordPlus, version 2.02.
Does anyone know a mailing address for GST Holdings Limited, Cambridge,
the authors of WordPlus. They may be interested in these bug-reports, and I
am interested in info on the format of their IMG-files.
From time to time WordPlus starts slowing down in keyresponse and repeating
keysequences. This is a sure sign of impeding death, so save your files
while you can, and check the file before you trash the BAK-version. It is
sometimes possible to save the day by moving the mouse !!!
There are problems with window-updates when you have more than one window
and they are changed from their default-settings.
This WordPlus version (but not the older one) have problems saving a file
when the disk has been changed a few times. It impression of which disk is
in the drive can be updated by using a Load Directory.
There are occasional problems with the footnotes, when some of them are
deleted; WordPlus will show false footnotes and some real ones may be
missing, and sometimes you can regain the real ones by deleting the fakes.
The Print File facility is fragile. It is not advisable to work on a text
while printing another, mostly because the printout may be garbaged.
