I am looking for a program for the ST which allows you to enter a melody of a song and will write an accompaniment for the melody. Is there such an animal available? Any recommendation? My mother-in-law wants something like this to help her write childrens songs, so we're not talking of something too complicated. Thanks in advance, Keith keithr@icogem3.ico.TEK.COM

The so-called algorithmic composition programs work more on creating variations on input information. There is a demo available for the package M from the Hybrid Arts BBS. Again, it might be fun for kids to use, but they won't understand much about it. The variations produced would probably not be useful as childrens songs. Maybe at a childrens disco.... If you are looking for accompaniment software you should take a look at Tunesmith by DrT's. It was reviewed by Keyboard back in Oct or Nov. of 1988. If you call up DrT they will send you a photocopy of the review. I have NOT used it but it is there and it got a good review. Ron Rangel
