with all the problems that have occurred when people tried to uudecode my posting of quikview.arc to atari.st.binaries, i would like to as a question so that these problems will not be duplicated in the future: what is the process one goes thru to go from a *.ARC file on the ST to a uuencoded file on Unix. The process i went through was: upload the .ARC file from my st to the sun's at work using the xmodem utility. uuencode it on the sun. send the uuencoded file to the moderator for atari.st.binaries. wait for message back from him. he says it will be posted if it checks out. a couple of days later, i see it posted, therefore i assume that all is ok. my question is: whats the difference between using UUE.TOS on the ST, and uploading the ascii to unix, and uploading the binary file via xmodem to unix and uuencoding it there. xmodem reported no errors in transmission, so i can be very safe that the .ARC file made it safely to unix. i'd like to know this soon, since i'm gonna be posting a couple of more files soon to atari.st.binaries. -- Ignac A.
