I have a chance to buy a MaxtorXT4380E hard drive at a very good price. This is a 380 meg 5 1/4 full size ESDI drive. I know I can use the Adaptec SCSI to ESDI board. What I need to know is what kind of transfer rate I'll get. Does anyone know how much the Adaptec board will slow down the transfer rate? Also, will I be able to do normal setup using the Supra host and format software? I still have one of the Quantum 80Ss for sale. This is a 84 meg 3 1/2 in. drive with SCSI built in. I'm asking $550 for the drive. It is very easy to hook this to the ST. All you need is a case with P/S, host adapter(Supra or ICD), and a short 50pin cable. This is the fastest drive I've seen hooked to the ST. Blast gives me 18.7 pics per sec. My Supra 20 does less than 6 pics per sec.
