I'm not a musician, but my wife is, and she needs a program to do the following: Accept music as input -- either from the ST keyboard or (if we ever buy one) from a MIDI keyboard -- transpose it to a specified key -- and print the results in standard musical notation (PostScript would be nice). Does such a thing exist for the ST?? Or for IBM or Mac (to give us an excuse to buy ditto or spectre)?? Any pointers will be appreciated. -- Dennis Pixton Department of Mathematical Sciences (607) 777-4239 SUNY-Binghamton dennis@marge.math.binghamton.edu Binghamton, NY 13901 dpixton@bingvaxb.bitnet

Dennis, There are a number of software packages that will do what you want. These are sequencing/notation packages aimed at the MIDI market, allowing you to do just about everything from recording your work in real time and printing out complete notation, to reading in manually entered notation and playing it back on a MIDI device in real time, with everything in between. Unfortunately, they're by no means inexpensive. The absolute best of these is Notator by C-Lab, which lists for $595, although you should be able to pick it up for $495 or less.
