I've received several messages asking how to 'recharge' the ink cartridges for the HP DeskJet. Yes, it can be done and you can save lots of bucks. Buy Sheaffer's Skip jet black ink--about $1.50 for a bottle, lasts about five recharges. Take an ink cartridge that is light but is still feeding ink. Ream out the air hole to about the width of a pencil eraser. Now, buy a machinest's hypodermic syringe and squirt in no more than two CC's of ink. A sponge inside of the cartridge will absorb the ink. Any more ink will cause a syphon effect to occur and you will lose your ink. I've been using the same cartridge for about five months or so and it has been through about five reams of paper. There is no way that a regular cartridge would last through that much paper with the amount of dark desktop publishing that I do on the HP DeskJet. I've not had any luck on using permanet or even India ink on the recharge. If anyone has had success in this let me know. HOPE THIS HELPS... Larry Rymal <Z4648252@SFAUSTIN.BITNET>
