Hi, you ATARIstis out there! I want to get some informations about your experiences with harddisks for the ST-family. I've decided to get one (about 40-60 MByte), but I don't know what to select. As far as I know there are 2 companies who produce such harddisk: VORTEX and ATARI. So what I want to know is: Is there any other company providing 40-60 MByte Harddisks? Are these harddisk stable? Are the drivers provided with the harddisk stable? How many partitions are possible with the drivers (ATARI provides only 4 partitions, even for the MEGAFILE 60)? Are there drivers out on the market (possibly Public Domain), that provide more than 4 partitions? If yes, which harddisks are supported? Do the harddisks produce noise? (How much, and which parts of them (fan, etc.)) How are they manufactured (what kind of case are they put in, an ATARI- MEGAFILE like, or an SH 204 like, or something else)? How fast are the transferrates? Is there a caching? If yes, how big is the cache? What are the prices (approximately)? And last, but not least: WHICH ONE DO YOU PREFER? WHY? I'd be very glad to get some feedback in order to make my decision easier!
