I find myself needing an emacs-clone (akin to the Epsilon editor for the IMB PC) for the Atari ST. Does someone have a PD version handy? Are there commercially available versions (reasonably priced)? Email, if possible. You speak of Epsilon and Emacs in a single breath and you're talking about a -wide- range of similar- but-VERY-different editors... There are several Emacs for the ST. One (the most common), microEmacs, is up to version 3.10 and is very powerful. I've heard that there's also a GNU-Emacs available, but I know practicly nothing about it. Both are large and programmable (but not in C like Epsilon). There's also a very compact version of microEmacs nicknamed MouseEmacs that has most of the basic editing capabilities of microEmacs, but is not programmable (except for a single-macro record/play). It includes support for mouse cursor-motion/cut/paste operations, built-in help, auto linewrap, shell-escapes, dozens of other things, and is less than 64k. (This is the version I use 99.9% of the time and helped write.) If you want one of the big versions, try ST bbs systems or national systems like GEnie or Compuserve. If you want the small version, drop me a note. I don't think a commercial version version of Emacs exists for the ST, but I could be wrong. If you really want Epsilon, good luck, and please(!) let me know if you find it... --- John Stanley <dynasoft!john@stag.UUCP> Software Consultant / Dynasoft Systems
