[comp.sys.atari.st] Getting WP to reconsider the Atari market.

romwa@gpu.utcs.utoronto.ca (Royal Ontario Museum) (04/11/89)

I am about to write a letter to WordPerfect asking them to
reconsider their decision to stop development for the Atari ST.
I would encourage all registered users to do the same. If you
aren't so inclined, perhaps you could e-mail me your name and
the serial number of your WP. I will compile these and append
these to the letter. Please, use the e-mail address listed
below as a number of us at the museum share the account from
which this was posted.

I would hate to be left at vers 4.1 when the rest of the world
is getting the wonderful 5.0 code.

Thanks,

Pavneet Arora

The article this is a follow-up to asks people to request that WordPerfect
continue Atari support. I think that's what they want to do already. There
is a WordPerfect display in the Atari booth at the present Comdex. The
WP representative seems enthusiastic. If there are ever enough TOS machines
out there to make it an attractive market, I suspect WP will be back fast.
In particular, I think they realize that slow sales are due to the small user
base and intense competition, rather than theft of software.
An aside: when I looked, WP seemed to have some problems running in the
configuration displayed (latest TOS 1.4, which people seemed to believe was
the production version; MEGA 4). If it's running smoothly on Thursday, that
should be evidence of continuing support.
