Is the scanner used here the same unit used in various PC hand scanners such as Scan Man? Folks who have used Scan Man seem pretty happy with it on the PC and it would be nice to find something comparable on the ST. I wonder if this product will ever make it to the US. I've seen an ad for something called "Geniscan GS4000 ST" from Datel Computers that offers "scanner, interface & scan edit software, 105mm scanning width & 400 dpi resolution" for $324.99 but I haven't seen any reviews or even a more detailed description than what I just quoted. I don't know what the Colibri costs without the OCR software, but $325 seems a bit pricey considering Scan Man and its kin are in the $200 neighborhood (discount houses). If anybody knows more about these products in the US market, please let us know. The low-cost printer-clip-on scanners don't give quite the quality I'd like, and machines like the HP Scanjet or Navaronne scanner are too expensive for semi-casual use. A mid-range good-quality scanner like those in the PC world would be just right. I have entered into an agreement with Logitech to convert the ScanMan hand scanner to run on the ST through the DMA port. The software is in place, and the hardware is now being looked into. I cannot give a timeline at this point, however, but I thought I would inform you to keep the faith... - Rob DeMillo | UUCP: ...ima!brunix!rjd Brown University | BITnet: DEMILLO%BRNPSG.SPAN@STAR.STANFORD.EDU Planetary Science Group | Reality: 401-863-3769 "I say you *are* the Messiah, Lord!
