[comp.sys.atari.st] WordPerfect SHELL command

TK0GRM1@NIU.BITNET (Gordon Meyer) (04/17/89)

A recent message (forgive me for not including it in this
one) commented that WordPerfect for the ST did not allow
execution of other programs while still in WP. This is true.
However there is a little know feature that can be used.
A past issue of STart magazine (at least a year ago) had a
CLI accessory written by Jeff Wilson. (Jeff is/was the main
author of WP/ST) If you stick this .ACC on your WP boot disk,
*and RENAME it to SHELL.ACC*, you can access it within WP by
hitting ^F1. Once inside the CLI you can execute some programs.
Not all of 'em of course..there are some limits with size and
environment.
Additionally, any desk acc renames as SHELL.ACC can be called
using the WP shell command...but be carefull as WP assumes some
things have been done when control returns....if your desk acc
doesn't do these things you may have some problems.

On other WP news. I saw the beta of the new version at Comdex.
The ability to use the fsel from the F10 selections is nice.
Hope we see it soon! WordPerfect was demo-ing WP/ST in the Atari
booth...but nary a sign of it over at the WP Corp area. But before
you get too excited I should add that the Apple II and Amiga version
were absent from the WP Corp area too. Seems they only wanted to
admit to the IBM and Mac support.
