Re CLock chip: Derrick Williams @ritcsh.UUCP wrote about the installation of a Dallas DS1216E and I thought I should update you on this. The Software as supplied from ST-Xpress is called Areal. I forget which version that is, but the sources were available with it. Over 6 months ago I found a newer version 3.3 usually seen as AREAL33.ARC on bulletin boards. It doesn't include the sources. The program was written by Bill Penner from somewhere in the Pacific NorthWest. The Dallas Chip is easily added to the 1040 and 520 systems. You can even add it to the Mega Systems as well. The software will allow you to put the SmartWatch as it is called in ANY ROM socket available to the ST, any that would normally hold a ROM. You cannot put it into an unpopulated socket in the 2 ROM systems. As a matter of fact you can have as many SmartWatches installed as you have sockets. The sockets include the sockets in the Cartridge. The 3.3 takes care of a minor bug in the software which was included in the ST-Xpress version. I put it into my system 3 months ago and have had absolutely no problems with it. It took roughly 10 to 15 minutes. The most of that time was used to take the system apart and put it back together again. All in all the actual installation of the SmartWatch took 3 minutes. This software is excellent. Much to be recommended. If anyone wants to get the software contact me through our Users Group here. Our disk librarian has it available on a disk for $5.00 Cdn. We supply the disk and other items of interest as well on the disk. Nova Scotia Atari Computer Users Group C/o Nova Scotia Museum 1747 Summer St. Halifax, N.S.
