Well, after 8 months on the U of M mainframe, the PC7 archive is moving again. This time we're moving to a Sun that's managed by our Computing Center. This provides the following advantages over the current system. 1st Access is no longer based on the whim of the HIM. It should be accessible with many fewer complications now. 2nd I've set up the new archive to take advantage of the Sun's hierarchical file system. Now things will be placed in categorical directories. 3rd We can get a mail server going now. MTS had messed up translation tables, so uuencoded files got trashed in the mail. 4th People can submit files to us via ftp again. 5th MTS used a strange form of ftp. Things should work normally now. (* for wildcard, dir gives useful output...) Here's a brief rundown on how to get a hold of the new archive. (him1 will still be available, if you're into masochism) to get to the archive: % ftp terminator.cc.umich.edu or % ftp 35.1.33.8 to get to our files: ftp> cd ~atari Ask your local ftp-god about how to transfer stuff, or wait until I release a revised version of my (in)famous FTP cookbook. The index will be put together in May, *after* f*nals. FTP submissions should to into ~atari/new Mail submissions should be sent to: dyer@math.lsa.umich.edu Jon Brode -- dyer@math.lsa.umich.edu usercptb@umichub.BITNET The Terminator Atari Archive Moderator.
