I just bought a Deskjet Plus printer. Wow, is it impressive! I am one of those people who saw the plain Deskjet (the older cousin) and wondered why anyone would bother buying such a slow, overpriced printer. No built-in courier italics or landscape fonts, for heavens sake! It took forever to print graphics! Useless heap of junk, in my opinion. The Deskjet Plus is another story entirely. This is the printer HP should have come out with in the first place! Smooth, zippy, sufficient base of built-ins, good sized ram (big ram-add ons, too). Seeing this one in action changed my mind about Deskjets. If you are like me and didn't see what the fuss was over the Deskjet (besides the print quality), then go see the Deskjet Plus. Now, if only HP can get waterproof ink--I dread the day my editor spills coffee on my submissions :-{. Oh well, live life risky... P.S. I hope I haven't offended you plain Deskjet owners too much. If you like your printer that's just fine with me. To each his own. I'm just saying *I* didn't think much of the Deskjet. -- Diane Barlow Close {uunet, crash, ucsd}!cacilj!close close@cacilj.uucp Free Canada -- Trade Mulroney
