since I'm a great aviation enthousiast I have a great interest in Sublogic Flight Simulator FS2 on the atari ST. It is a great program and can be very usefull for additional flight training. However there are a few shortcomings concerning the controls. A real plane has te be flown not in auto coordination mode. In FS2 the stick can be controlled by the mouse, (this works well), but rudder (0 and . on keypad) and throttle (9 and 3 on keypad) are controlled by means of keypresses. This is too far from reality. Therefore I have already made some hardware which generates these keypulses to the keyboard depending on variable resistors. These resistors are adjusted by a feet controlled rudder and a throttle stick. This works resonable. HOWEVER it would be a far better solution to adapt the program itself so that the rudder and throttle settings can be directly red from the bus socket. This involves quite some understanding in machine code and atari internal file structures, to find the locations in the program (the difficult part) where these key's are red and then to make some adaptations (the easy part). My question is, has already someone tried something like this, or has anybody some suggestions. Or does somebody (a real HACKER) sees here a challenge?? Any info or help would be most welcome, Fons Bruls
