From: S.Usher@uk.ac.ucl.cs Why is it when people try to implement networking on the ST they always think of "Master" and "Slave" computers. Why not have all computers as both, ie each computer running an interrupt routine to recognise thier net ID, and then service the request. The request could be made by having the net as a pseudo drive. Each machine would have a net map, mapping who has what drives/root directories are on which machine so that not too much memory is taken up. The MIDI port could be interfaced with an Ethernet-like coaxial cable type medium for easy networking around the building. You could even implement an Ethernet type protocol, though it would be using an asynchronous serial device. I have made a short study of this subject, I believe it to be feasible as long as the ST can support multiple drive/ file access. It would also need some pseudo-multi-tasking. I hope this is food for thought. Stephen Usher Addresses:- JANet:- S.Usher@uk.ac.ucl.cs or UCACMSU@uk.ac.ucl.euclid --8<---------------- Cut ------------------ Here -------------------------
