A recent line has been debating the origins of the IBM PC/AT. I have had one since 1984. It ran at 6MHZ and had an iAPX-286 processor. Since it takes approx. 2-3 years to bring a new product out, I presume that early prototypes (ca. 1981) had only 8086 chips. For those who remember, Intel was promoting it's iAPX-432 Wunder Chip. The 286 was a fall out of that disaster. What this means for the Atari user, I don't know.
