I recently bought a quantum 80 drive. It averages 27ms seek and well over 600Kbytes/sec data send rate (with ratehd). My previous drive, a miniscribe 20 meg, had no problems with a magic sac hard drive partition. However, last night setting it back up was impossible, the drive would hang with an eternal busy light when disk access got a little heavy. I know real Mac's have trouble with drive that send data too fast, but does this carry over to magic sack? Up to this time the quantum has worked flawlessly. Also, If this problem is with the magic sac, will it work on spectre? I have been seriously considering buying spectre, but if i can't have a hard drive partition.... thanks ahead of time.... My guess is that your problem does indeed stem from the fast data transfer rate that Spectre 1.9 (with its SCSI slowdown option) would take care of the problem. Peter Szymonik Xorg@cup.portal.com
