Hello, I'm planning to upgrade my 520ST to 2.5 MB this summer and am looking for a RAM upgrade board. I've been told the boards by Datafree and Tech Specialties are quite good. I have two questions: 1. Does anyone have a (1-800?) phone number/address for Tech Specialties and know the price of their board? 2. Does anyone know of a retailer for the Datafree board who will do mail order? (Datafree won't sell directly to the public and my local retailer wants $250 for the board) Please email replies directly to me. Thanks in advance! (Datafree won't sell directly to the public and my local >retailer wants $250 for the board) DataFree attended the Michigan Atari Computer Expo two weeks ago in the Detroit area, and were selling their 2/4 Meg upgrade board for $145 (with no RAM). Their flyer indicated that the regular price was about $159, and it looked to me as if they would mail-order them. Unfortunately, my flyer is at the headquarters of the Atari Interface Magazine right now.. I'll try to get hold of their address and ordering info after Monday... What I liked about the DataFree upgrade board is that it *solders* onto the bottom of the motherboard, onto the MMU socket. This is an EASY installation, probably far more easy than the kludgy "no solder" installations I've been subjected to in the past. It's also FAR more reliable than things jammed down over existing chips and their pins, and far less likely to damage the motherboard or its sockets. I would have bought one on the spot if I'd thought to bring that much money with me... as it is, with the cost of 1Meg chips falling again, I think I'm going to order one and start getting the chips whenever I find a good price on them...
