Having been out of the loop for a while, I've missed several months status
regarding the ST portable, TOS 1.4, and TT. I'm sorry if this is rehashing
stuff that's already been covered.
First off, how's the portable coming? On page 11 of the May, 1989 STart
Sam Tramiel is quoted as saying "'Tooling for the Laptop should be finished in
March and it will be shipping in April.'" This is about as official an
announcement as you can get, so I would expect something soon. (Of course, I
remember that first Winter CES in Jan. 1985 when good ol' Jack said that the
ST would be shipping in April and the thirty-two bit machine would be out in
August). Atari seems to be keeping pretty mum on the new machines--no in-depth
previews in the magazines, etc., so could someone outline the specifics of the
machine for us-- size of hard drive, internal memory, length of battery operat-
ion, and price (for that matter, the same goes for the TT).
As for TOS 1.4, what can I say but... WHERE IS IT?
In the same article, Sam Tramiel was quoted as saying "'The TT is running
about a month behind, but it should be shipping in the second quarter.'" As
with the portable, I'd like a consise rundown on the system if such a thing has
been released by Atari.
Thanks for the info! While I'm sure definite information would be of
interest to the whole net, you might want to mail any answers to me so as to
eliminate cluttering and to cut down on the stuff that's already been
discussed. I'll post a summary.
