confirm/disprove it?" (in regards to pullup resistors on the data lines)

I have had NO problems at all with my "plain" DeskJet. It has been
working on my Mega2 ST (could this be a reason?) fine for nearly a year.
I also know of a local 1040 using the DeskJet Plus and that user
has been perfectly happy. He has had no problem at all in either using
his software or driving the printer.
Forbid it for me to defend Atari, but it would seem to me if the
resistors in the STs are giving the Atari 'borderline' reactions to
printers, then why is it that the Plus is the only machine creating
the problem? Logic would tell me that there would be other printers
besides the Plus and the NEC P2200 giving difficulty.
On the other hand, not all STs are created equal. I've seen two
520's that *appeared* as all but identical, giving different desktops
on the same 'startup' disk. Don't believe me? Send a letter to
Ron Hunter on GEnie for proof. We fought that for a solid day and
gave up!
At any rate, either the ST that Diane does not have the same
resistors as most other STers have (yeah, sure) or the NEC and
DeskJet Plus (why does the DeskJet Plain work?) are not quite to
standard. Of course, has anyone checked the latest moon phase?
On the other hand, Diane, why not jazz up your buffer box a bit
and market it? There are buyers out there! GRIN
