[comp.sys.atari.st] fan on 1040ST

I just installed a small brushless 12vDC fan in my 1040ST. It seems to work
fine and it only draws .16a (if I remember correctly). Will this cause me
any problems with the power supply? I checked it with a voltmeter and at
startup there was not any noticeable dip in the voltage. My machine seems
to be MUCH cooler now. It appeared to be running hotter as it got older.
Has anyone else done this? The only drawback so far seems to be this whir of
the fan. I may add a small pot to lower the speed (and noise) of the fan.
It is still much quieter than the typical IBM PC fan even at full speed.

Chris,

For the interest of all, where and how did you install that fan?

Thanks in advance,
