[comp.sys.atari.st] Hard drive mechanism replacement

fjmora@CS.WM.EDU (Fredric Mora) (06/08/89)

(This letter is an answer to ...mcvax!ndosl!ifi!jkr. I am sorry to have to
post it but somehow any Email I sent there bounced.)

Thank you for your kind answer. You write:
>Yes, it is possible to both replace the existing hard drive mechanism

I am interested only in replacing my 20 Meg mechanism.

>Changing the mechanism is the simple act of swapping drives & setting up
>AHDI format to acommodate the new drive.

Could you please elaborate a little more? Did you encounter cable/connector
problems? Or did you experience any problem with AHDI? I remember how
easy it was to format the SH205... but I only had 3 partitions, and
I guess the maximum allowed is 4 partitions of 16 Meg each, right?
Did you find a turn around this limitation?
Thank you,

Regards,
