In the Atari ST Market there is a surprisingly large assortment of nominal cost advertising media (for selling software products). I'd like to list some that I've thought of, and I'd be interested in hearing about others. magazine reviews press releases posted on on-line services make the product a prize in a contest sponsored by an on-line service sponsor your own contest with your product as the prize (every response adds to your mailing list) write a "how to" article with a sales pitch for the product software piracy (this is an advertising medium if you want it to be) classified advertisements (do any of the Atari ST magazines have classifieds?) offer to donate $X to user group X for each copy sold to user group X members (does anyone have a list of Atari ST user groups?). This should get a mention of the product in the user group's newsletter. Let's start a discussion: which of the above have been effective in marketing Atari ST software products? Which were unsuccessful? What other nominal-cost advertising media are available? Terrell (att!druhi!terrell)
