I am having a problem which probably has an obivous answer so forgive my ignorance. When I attempt to transfer binary (ARC) files from a unix system to my ST using kermit, the file will transfer, except that there are tons of retransmit errors, for about 10% of the blocks actually. I know I uuencode the stuff, but I would at least like to know why this happens... Scott

Are you sure that both ends are properly configured? Both have the same block size, special characters (padding, et. al.), and most importantly are configured for text mode? Oh yes, forgot to mention, do both use the same method for checking errors. MS-Kermit with extended block size supports three methods for error checking. If the file is uuencoded, it shouldn't cough that often because (as you and I both know) for all practical purposes it is tex. /*--------------------------------------------------------------------------* * Flames: /dev/null (on my Minix partition) *--------------------------------------------------------------------------* * APRA : crash!pnet01!jca@nosc.mil * INET : jca@pnet01.cts.com * UUCP : {nosc ucsd hplabs!hd-sdd}!crash!pnet01!jca *--------------------------------------------------------------------------*/
