Have you ever wondered how to reach sites that are not on USENET? It's confusing to say the least. I am willing to compile a list of how to reach the networks that are indirectly connected to the uucp/USENET network. If this has already been done please point me to the appropriate reference, otherwise: I am looking for information on how to access the many networks I see on USENET via uucp mail. For example, some networks I've seen are: BITNET Arpanet CS-Net Put Your Net Here I know that you can use the mystical "gateways" that exist at different locations to access the various networks. For example, to get to a BITNET site one can mail through talcott, psuvax1 and various other places. What I want to know is the following: 1) What networks can be accessed? 2) Where can they be reached from (what is the gateway machine)? 3) What is the correct syntax to mail through the gateway? 4) What does the membership of each network consist of (i.e. BITNET is a bunch of VMS and/or IBM computers)? 5) How big is the network (machines/people/physical range)? Please include an addressing EXAMPLE for sending something to the network(s) you know of. This doesn't have to be limited to uucp. If wanted, I will compile information about reaching a particular network from any other network. Naturally, I will post anything I learn to the net. Matt Goheen ...{seismo,allegra}!rochester!srs!matt
