With all this talk of DeskJets damaging the sound chip on the ST,
does anyone know if the HP LaserJet Series II printer could
do any damage?

To find out if your printer will work on the parallel port of your
Atari ST, get yourself a multimeter and survey the pullup resistors
of your printer. These are located between the +5Volts pin and each
of the data pins on the parallel port of your printer (don't forget
to switch off the printer).

If these resistors exceed 3,3Kohms, the printer will work fine. If they
have less, the printer may damage your port.

Hope this was helpfull,
