[comp.sys.atari.st] hard disk software

Hi,

I'm currently looking into what software to use as a hard disk driver.
During this process I noticed some strange things comparing the various
drivers.

I would like to have > 4 partitions.
Therefore I had a look at the ICD software.
However, after using qindex15 I found out that on the same hard disk
the performance using icdboot would be only half of the performance
which would be obtained using ahdi or the bms driver.
(that is, the DMA and GEMDOS I/O tests)

I don't like this performance loss, (which I cannot explain)
so I'd rather use something else.
Therefore, does someone know a hard disk driver which will
- support either >16 MB partitions or >4 partitions
- be roughly equivalent in performance with ahdi
- is available.
All pointers are gracefully accepted.

I don't know anything about the supra software (I have never seen it).
I know about the existence of HDX 3.0, but when I asked our local
atari sub. the only answers I got was: "not yet available", "still in
beta test", "we're not yet shipping it" and "don't believe everything
you read on Usenet".

How is the availability of HDX 3.0 in the US? I saw messages from atari
US stating its availability.
Can someone comment on this?
Are there any users of HDX 3.0 on the net, which can comment on it?

To end off with a simple question:
Given a 150 MB formatted drive, how would you partition it, and what
driver would you use?
