[comp.sys.atari.st] Atari trade-in offer

noid@olivej.olivetti.com (The Pizza Terminator) (07/03/89)

Is the Atari offer to trade in dead computers still going?

I have a dead 520STfm that I would like to replace.

What are the prices for the entire ST line?
Where does one send the dead computer, and
packaged in what (must it be the original packing)?
How long does it take?
What are the general guidelines for acceptance of
the traded-in computer?
Why so many questions? :-)

Any info appreciated.

The last I heard it was $95 for a 520. To confirm this and get the answers
to your other questions, call 408-745-5759 or 408-745-2367. You can also get
direct from Atari answers on GEnie in the Atari support area, or write to

I don't work for Atari, just spend a lot of time there, and using their
equipment, at home and at work.

To replace a 520STFM the charge is $115.00. To take advantage of
the replacement policy, you will need to do the following:

1. Package up your 520STFM and the power cable in a box that
will get the computer here safely

2. Include in the box a check made out to Atari Corporation for
$115.00. Also include a letter stating that your computer is
damaged and you would like it replaced. Be sure to include an
return address for shipping. This address must be accessible
   by UPS.

3. Send the computer, the power cord, the letter, and the check
   to the following Address:

	Atari Corporation
	390 Caribbean Drive
	Sunnyvale, CA 94089
	Attn: Door 17

Guidelines for Replacement
--------------------------

1. We do not accept computers which have been modified. This means
memory upgrades, etc. This basically means that if the computer
has been modified and damaged beyond belief, we will send it back
   to you as is.

2. We do not offer upgrades through this policy. We replace for the
   same machine you currently own.

In regards to your question regarding other prices for replacement,
they are many replacement prices and since they do periodically
change, Customer Relations has asked us not to give out the entire
list of prices. If you need any other replacement pricing on specific
items I will be happy to send them to you via Email.

Last but not least, the turn around time is usually 3-4 weeks from
the time you send in the unit.

In you (or anyone else) has any other questions, please drop me a
note in Email.
