The header says it all !! But for those for whom this isn't enough information --> Three days ago I noticed some strange (stranger than normal that is) behavior from the 'battery-backed clock' in my Supra'Drive' 30MB harddisk drive (aside: are there any kinds of harddisks that aren't drives ?). The time was not correct !! I would then set it and all would be fine until the next time I turned it on. At that point it would now be set to the time that I had SHUT-it-OFF the day/hours before. And then last night (my time!) it was set to some completely outlandish time in the 21st century. I'm assuming that the battery is dead since the harddrive clock still works as long as the machine is on. The question : Has anybody had to replace the battery in one of these things lately & how hard is it to do ?? E-mail all replies !! If there is enough(ANY) interest in the outcome of this little escapade I'll summarize and post. Andy :-) ps. Anybody know if SUPRA watches this group ?? Or have a current phone number for them ??

I own a Supra Hard Disk that exhibits a similar problem. I bravely opened it up expecting to change the battery. I found that the battery was a soldered lithium job. I called Supra to obtain a replacement or find the cost of repair. According to the Supra rep (Keith, I think), they received a shipment of defective clock chips late last year (1988). The chips have the nasty habit of draining the battery. Supra is repairing the problem at their expense, even if your unit is out of warranty! Contact Supra at 503/967-9081 for more information and the details as to the correct procedure to follow. Supra again gets my vote as one of the best companies in the ST marketplace.
