With the Megas being "old technology" now, and the Atari blitter being at least a reasonably well known thing. Could someone who really knows what this thing can do describe it? If you are aware of other blitters (Xerox, Commodore) could you compare them? Some of the questions I am particularly interested in : - Does the blitter have a barrel shifter to do bit aligned transfers? - What restrictions are there are arbitrarily aligned rectangles if any? - What logical operations does it support? Are any of them numeric such as T.I.'s PixBlt stuff? - How do the blitter and 68000 get along, especially on the memory bus? - How fast is it? How many clocks/byte does it transfer? - How many sources/destinations does it support? - How much does it affect overall system performance? Any info appreciated, --Chuck McManis uucp: {anywhere}!sun!cmcmanis BIX: cmcmanis ARPAnet: cmcmanis@sun.com These opinions are my own and no one elses, but you knew that didn't you.
