I don't think this is a dumb question, so if you flame me flame me gently. I find the 'management' of ASSIGN.SYS files a total and absolute menace. The text file is crytpic, and the correlations with screen, printer, meta fonts a ***** nuisance. Question: Is there a product out there, PD - Shareware - or Commercial that will manage ASSIGN.SYS. What I mean is a GEM Based program that will allow me to 'move' fonts in and out of ASSIGN.SYS - constructing a legal file that will work and will no screw up at Boot time. For those readers who have seen a Mac in action the equivalent (I think) is the FontMover. A brief check of GDOS+ from a write up did not seem to help. My interpretation of what it did was to allow a choice of ASSIGN.SYS's at boot time - but the snag is the creation of the ASSIGN.SYS in the first place. ANy comments?
