jtang@orion.cf.uci.edu ( James ) (08/17/89)

Hi, I am planning on buying a Seagate hard drive. I recall a while back
there was talk about a particular model of Seagate drive that had two different
version of ROM and that the difference being it's transfer speed when formatted
1:1 ratio. Could someone please inform me the model number of that hard drive?

James

The Seagate SCSI 296N <- imbedded controller, is the one which I have heard
the most complaints about - ask for ROM7 (older) ROM8 is the one used to
slow the drive so it can't be formatted at 1:1.
