Hi, I am planning on buying a Seagate hard drive. I recall a while back there was talk about a particular model of Seagate drive that had two different version of ROM and that the difference being it's transfer speed when formatted 1:1 ratio. Could someone please inform me the model number of that hard drive? James ps. please use BITNET if possible. Usenet: jtang@orion.cf.uci.edu Bitnet: JWTang@UCIVMSA.BITNET

The Seagate SCSI 296N <- imbedded controller, is the one which I have heard the most complaints about - ask for ROM7 (older) ROM8 is the one used to slow the drive so it can't be formatted at 1:1. Peter Szymonik Xorg@cup.portal.com
