If anyone "in the know" can assist in solving the following problem, please send me E-Mail. A fellow Mega ST owner installed a front-mounted reset switch on his Mega. For several months, he also suspected the alignment of his floppy and took the drive to his local dealer for an alignment check. When he reinstalled the drive, he was shocked that his Mega would no longer come up. To his shock, he discovered that one the wires for his reset switch broke and touched the motherboard when he was closing up the Mega case. It was totally his fault, not Atari's design or anything of that nature!!! Because of my playing around with the Mega's reset circuit, he came to me, thinking that I could figure the problem out. Well, I couldn't. Out of desperation, we replaced the 555 timer hoping that it died when the wire faulted. That did not solve the problem. The computer still would not come up during bootup. We took the Mega to his dealer. The technician was never able to isolate the problem because.......BY TURNING THE MEGA OFF AND THEN BY IMMEDIATELY TURNING IT BACK ON THE SYSTEM WOULD BOOT UP. Yep, that is how his Mega is now working. He turns it off and then back on. It works great that way. Another clue....the reset circuit absolutely will not work. This appears to me to be rather significant but I am not armed with schematics. The technician does not think that this is a major clue. If anyone can assist, please get back with me. Thanks!!!!
