MAXG@SUVM.BITNET ("Gerry Greenberg: 315-443-5378") (09/08/89)
I wasn't intending to post this to the net, but since I was not able to get my email to the Paul, Keith, and Michael at the last address I saw on the net, I figured this was the most expedient way to do this. First of all, I'd like to say that the disk I received from Double Click has some really neat stuff on it! I really love DCFormatter(except for the problem I describe below), and the Mystic Formatter is great for doing ST disk formatting---would it be possible to get spectre formatting in there, too? I liked the things on this disk so much that I immediately sent away for DCUtilities, and I can't wait to get them. I just wish I didn't have so much trouble trying to reach DC both through email AND snail mail...well, better late than never for sure with this stuff. Anyway, here is my problem: I tried to make a copy of a Spectre128 format disk with DCFormatter 3.2, but I kept getting an error when trying to read the source disk. So, I pulled out my old 2.02 version of DCFormatter, which uses the term Magic format as opposed to Spectre format, and the copy worked just fine. I figured the disk should copy, because I was able to use it in Spectre mode...I figured it had to be good. So, does anyone know why 3.2 should have this problem when 2.02 didn't? I don't really know if I have this problem with all my spectre disks, but something has got to be wrong somewhere. Michael, I see your comments most frequently on the net...any ideas? Thanks in advance...post replies to the net or to me directly via email.---Gerry maxg@suvm (bitnet) grgreenb@rodan.acs.syr.edu (internet)----we've been having a LOT of trouble with this machine lately, so if you can get to the bitnet address, that would probably be better. PS. Can't wait for those DCUtilities! especially DCSquish!
