I have a Supra 45 Meg hard drive which never seems happy waking up when my 1040ST (unmodified, non-1.4-TOS) boots. The supra is always up & running well before I turn on the ST. If I have a floppy in the floppy drive on bootup, it always boots from the floppy. If no floppy is in the floppy drive, it will boot from ROM (eventually). However. If I switch the supra OFF while the system is booting with no floppy in the drive, the desktop comes up IMMEDIATELY. If I then switch the Supra back ON, wait for it to spin-up then hit the reset button on the ST, the it tries the floppy about three times then autoboots correctly from the Supra. After this elaborate sequence, everything works according to the Supra manual. Rebooting with or without floppy in the drive gets an autoboot from the Supra. It is only on Cold Start that these problems occur. The Supra is set up as per the manual for auto-booting. Has anyone seen this before? Is this problem going to go away when (if) TOS 1.4 becomes available in the UK (another story...). Thanks in advance for any help, Roddy. roddy@miclon.co.uk roddy@miclon.uucp roddy@uk.co.mic.lon
