The boulder/pendulum is not a red herring, but it IS the hardest thing in Barbarian. You have to get your timing in a very small window. You have to RUN (not walk) from all the way to the left to the right past the pendulum. This is the only way to get enough speed to pass it quickly. Note the pendulum moves in steps, as I recall about 8 positions. I believe you start running when it's around 3 or 4 o'clock, you just miss it as it goes up on the left and you just get by it before it comes down on the right. Rest assured it's much easier passing it on the way back (yes you have to pass all the screens again). --- * Via ProDoor 3.1aR
