This isn;t significant to anybody's life except Atari's but while eating dinner and catch some 21 jumpstreet, I was hit with one of CBM's amiga commercials. i was impressed, they didn;t center on the computer at all but they had alot of characters that sold the damn thing. The amiga is a good computer and all that jazz, but I would rather see more ST's. Where the hell is the Xmas drive to sell ST's, I haven't seen one ad yet!! only one I have ever seen recently is "The Fun is back O yes sir eee, its the 2600 from Uhh tar eee" Jeez, c'mon guys get something together. -Ajay Choudhri now was this actually worth $.02

The Amiga ads were on Fox? They were supposed to be on all the networks, and the big "Kickoff" of them was supposed to be during last night's football game. I taped it & fast-forwarded through the whole thing... not one amiga commercial. And they were supposed to start printed ads in Time, Newsweek, and Life, but the new issue of Time is out, and no Amiga. So far, it's not much of a media "blitz." -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------- Don Lloyd El Campeador don@vax1.acs.udel.edu | | |Gibberish is | DISCLAIMER: don@pyr1.acs.udel.edu | | |spoken here. | My employers are idiots. Some local stations didn't run them (like the local ABC affiliate) which is legal/acceptable/all that. Yesterday as a whole was the start of the CBM/Amiga ad campaign, from what I understand. > And they were supposed to start printed ads in Time, Newsweek, and Life, >but the new issue of Time is out, and no Amiga. The TV ads will be for the A500; the print ads, as I understand it, will be for the A2000 and A2500 in professional settings. The Time/Newsweek/Life(?) ads are supposed to be seven-page series ads. The goal, again as I understand it (I do not now and have never worked for CBM) is to have 95-98% of the US to have seen at least two Amiga commercials by the end of the year. To this end, CBM will be spending some $14 million in advertising, putting it into the list of "Top 80" advertisers, ahead of both IBM and Apple for the quarter. BTW, for those interested; I'm the person who talked about the Atari ST emulator for the Amiga before. I still have not found a working copy. As I stated in an earlier post (to c.s.a), I am still working on finding out whether this thing actually exists in viable form. Both copies I have had have arrived "damaged;" specifically, the writers of the emulator used "hidden" files (_not!_ part of the operating system) which were apparently partially destroyed in transit from the point of origination in Austrailia. - R'ykandar. -- | R'ykandar Korra'ti, Editor, LOW ORBIT | phoenix@ms.uky.edu | CIS 72406,370 | | Elfinkind, Unite! | phoenix@ukma.bitnet | PLink: Skywise | QLink: Bearclaw |
